The most interesting article I found was the one on sock puppetry and Wiki. There are several sites where the same thing goes on. Weather Underground is one. Whatever is or is not true about global warming, the fact is that a small cadre of members there can use the moderating system to get rid of people who disagree with them. I’ve always been careful with wikis, but I didn’t realize they have many of the same problems.
Just a note, because it occurred to me in this context: one of the humorous moments of my trip to Kansas came when I realized Google maps not only had misspelled one of the sites I visited, they had misplaced it by several miles. As with doctors, second opinions can be useful.
